Inspiration from Moab

We recently returned from a wonderful vacation in Moab, Utah. Our main reason for this trip was to visit Arches National Park.

We spent three days hiking in Arches. What a beautiful place.

Then we went looking for petroglyphs. These and more were found on Potash Road.

We also hiked a bit in Canyonland. This was Mesa Arch my favorite of all the arches there.

Love the textures we saw on this trip.

We also did a little shopping in downtown Moab. We love supporting locally owned bookstores.

I also like to buy books written by local authors. This is a memoir of the author’s time working in Arches for three summer seasons.

Of course, I had to visit a local quilt shop. It was a small place, but it was packed with fabric and notions.

Even though I don’t use a lot of commercial fabric, I found several pieces I just had to have!

We always stop by thrift stores when we travel. We didn’t find anything we wanted to buy, but found that they had free stuff in the front, and just inside the door free food. There were a couple of guys picking through the items in front. I wondered if they ever check out the food.

Art in Moab

Even on the trip back to Salt Lake City to fly home we saw this beautiful scenery.

The airport had this beautiful stained glass.

Moab Man came home with me where he is now living on our refrigerator.

Last but not least, we ate a lot of good food. On vacations we usually eat our breakfast and dinner in the condo, and eat out for lunch. We found so many great places to eat. One of my favorites was Antica Forma where they serve wood fired pizza. The restaurant was empty when we walked in for lunch, but it filled up quickly. They make the crust, sauce and mozzarella from scratch. We ordered two individual pizzas: pepperoni, and Polpette (meatballs). The individual pizzas are around 11 inch – six pieces! We ordered a heap of arugula to the top of both pizzas. It was fun watching him roll out the dough and make our pizza. It was even more fun eating his masterpiece!! Yum!

There was so much inspiration in Moab. We both came home so inspired and ready to create some art.
